Adams Lodge Outfitters offer guided hunts and non-guided drop camp hunts. We hunt primarily for elk in the White River National Forest and Flattops Wilderness Area in game management unit 24. Licenses for Archery, Muzzleloading and first elk only rifle season are by draw only. Application are usually available in March, the deadline to apply the first of April, and you will know if you are successful by June. Area 24 has a four points or better regulation which means that the spike bulls are not harvested and there are more mature bulls than before.

Guided hunts are the most successful. You stay at our place near Meeker, where you will have comfortable accommodations. Each morning you will have a hearty country style breakfast in the dining room, the guides will have the horses saddled and ready to load. After breakfast you will grab your lunch and will go to the trailhead, about a 20 mile drive, where you will get on your horse and ride into the hunting area. You will be placed on a stand where elk are likely to be seen in the early morning hours. Later, throughout the day, the guides will make drives through the dark timber in an attempt to push the elk into the open where you may get a shot. They make several drives each day and work very hard. A warm dinner will be waiting for you on your return each evening. After dinner you may join others in the living room to visit, to watch TV, check your email, or take a shower and sleep in a comfortable bed so you will be ready for the next day’s hunt.

Drop camps are unguided, we furnish the camp and you provide your own food and dishes, do your own cooking and hunt on your own. We will provide the horses and packer/guide to pack you and your gear into a camp that is set and ready when you arrive. The camp will have a wall tent, wood heating stove, some cut firewood, propane cook top, propane, lanterns, cots with foam pads, water source, latrine and camp table and stools. You will be provided with a two way radio and will contact the guides each day to let them know if you have game to be packed. It is recommended that you bring a satellite phone for emergency use during your stay in the camp. We will pack one game animal per hunter at no additional charge. Overnight lodging and breakfast before your pack-in is included.
